Research shows that 80-90% of the population does not achieve the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamins and minerals from food alone.  As well, RDA levels for each nutrient are only intended to guard against severe deficiency, such as scurvy with vitamin C.  The RDAs are not sufficient to prevent degenerative disease; slow the biological process of aging; maximize well being or better manage certain health conditions.
